Relaxing with Lucas
Why did you get involved with Merseyside Dementia Friendly Radio?
I enjoy sharing music with people and it’s fun to put shows together. It’s also a pleasure to be able to contribute positively to the lives of people living with dementia at the same time as listening to great songs.
Tell me a little about your show.
My show is called ‘Relaxing’ and the aim of it is to help people wind down at the end of the day with a varied collection of music from calming jazz, to relaxing classical pieces, to gentle folk tunes. I try to make it as varied as possible to cater to everybody’s tastes.
Favourite song or first song you bought?
The first music I remember being given was Hysteria by Def Leppard. The first song I bought was Lucky by Britney Spears.
What is your best musical experience?
Seeing an artist called Ruby My Dear at Southport Pontins before it closed down is probably my best musical experience but there's a lot of close seconds!
As part of Playlist for Life’s National Playlist Day, could you tell us a little about your upcoming radio show and how it’s inspired by your loved one’s meaningful music playlist?
I have begun to ask friends for requests to play on my show. I am currently looking forward to my friend Alison giving me some requests from her dad.
