Folk-ish with Beth Pinches
I got involved with MDFR because I loved the idea of a show that catered for folks suffering with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Many years ago I did a dramatherapy group for people suffering these things and I loved it. Music was a big part of my sessions as it is a powerful tool for memory but also for mood.
Tell me a little about your show.
My show focuses on folk, roots, americana and folk revival. I love all kinds of music but folk music had a big place in my heart thanks to my dad. There are so many beautiful songs in the genre and recognisable voices. I love putting my show together, discovering ‘new’ music, weaving it all together around a theme. I hope it is reaching a few folk out there.
Favourite song or first song you bought?
Not folk at all! The first single I ever bought, on record, was Aswad, Don’t turn around. First gig was guns n roses in 1993!
My best musical experience was seeing Nick Cave comes high on the list! And Bruce Springsteen at Anfield this year, when he brought Paul McCartney on!!
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
