Memories are made of this with Flo Clucas
Why did I get involved?
I thought it was a terrific idea, using music to bring people together and stimulate memories and chat. I spoke to Nat and was offered the opportunity to get involved. I was surprised and delighted!
My show is called 'Memories are made of this'. I use my memories of songs and performers to create a story and that story connects with others in the programme. It might be a year; a trip around the world; parks; family; love; things that bring us together.
My favourite song is a hard question! It can change over time. One I love is called 'La Mer' by a French singer Charles Trenet. Every time I hear it, I can see the coastline of Angel Bay - Baie des Anges - in Antibes.
I used to go to the Cavern - the original one - and we would listen to the bands: Beatles; Gerry and the Pacemakers - I was an extra in Ferry Cross the Mersey - ; Fourmost; Dennisons and lots of others. It was great. Never to be forgotten. (I've seen Paul McCartney perform live. Last December he did a show in Paris and it was wonderful.)
As I got older, I discovered French singers and loved the music. Some fantastic singers and songwriters there were and seeing Charles Aznavour live was incredible. He did a show with Liza Minnelli that was just wonderful!
