The Mix with Neil Hartford

I got involved in Merseyside Dementia Friendly Radio purely  by chance.

I was just scanning on my dab radio for different music when I landed on a station that was playing a really good mix of music, I googled to see who they where and to my surprise found it to be a local radio (Merseyside) station MDFR.

I contacted them to say what a great mix of music away from the norm a great concept in dementia friendly radio, not expecting a reply. I was surprised when within a couple of hours.

Nat replied back to thank me for my feedback, he asked  me if I would like to help voluntarily  in any small way, so we arranged an interview  and the rest is history.

My show is called The Mix and it literally is that music wise. You just never know what's next. It can go from big band to funk. I have a section where we have a karaoke track, original track, then karaoke to singalong to, or just get involved by even whistling or clapping along. It doesn't matter, the aim is fun.

Also useful information contacts re health ..events ..things to do, places to go, people  to see. Above all, hopefully a happy show.

Favourite song… there are so many I could choose...but the one I always go back to is Australian band The Little River band’s Reminiscing. It has great lyrics and music that evokes an eternal love and happiness "togetherness".

My best musical experience… there have been many "but" my first ever concert has to be up  there, it was seeing  a new band at the time at the Empire Theatre Liverpool Oct 1973 the band was ROXY MUSIC...I became an adult that night as I was only 13 at the time and went on my own (mum and dad didn't know!)
